Kenolio Apartments

186-unit Affordable Housing Development
pre-fabrication

Working Smarter

Kenolio Apartments is a 186-unit affordable housing development in Kihei that was completed in 2020. The project has 63 one-bedroom units, 72 two-bedroom Units and 51 three-bedroom units across 13 three story buildings. The project also includes a community building with an 18-unit commercial laundry.
This project saw the launch of our pre-fabrication process. Framing shop drawings were built into the BIM architectural model. After modeling the piping for the DWV system, cut lengths were loaded into a Tigerstop CNC saw system. The CNC saw optimizes for material use and brought material waste down to less than 2%. The DWV system was packaged by unit and distributed to the site.

The prefabrication of the DWV system proved vital to the success of the project, it allowed onsite crews to maximize productivity and helped to reduce the costs of rework and information gathering.

This project proved that prefabrication could drive productivity, increase project safety and improve collaboration between trades. Kenolio Apartments is a great example of quality affordable housing and is a project we are very proud to have been a part of.
